Oh my gosh, I’ve finally gotten this recap post together on our vacation in Mexico even though it’s been a month since I’ve come back! It’s been something I’ve wanted to share with you so badly, because it was SUCH a fun time. Don’t get me wrong, I love touring around and seeing other countries and cities, but sometimes, I just want to check out for awhile and not having to worry about anything. That’s exactly why I chose an all-inclusive resort, where the hardest thing I would have to do each day would be to lay on the beach lifting a pina colada to my mouth (biceps, yassss).
The hubs and I hadn’t done a proper honeymoon after we eloped in Vegas last year (see pictures from that here), so this was also time for us to celebrate and enjoy each others’ company without the stress that comes with the daily grind. Normally I book my own trips through Expedia, but my sister used a travel agent when we stayed in Punta Cana, and it was fucking beautiful. I knew we’d be in good hands working with the same place (Shoutout to LLD Travel for hooking it up!). We chose Unico 2087 out of the choices they gave me because of how beautiful the property was, and I heard the food was great, too.
The flight was a long one from NYC all the way to Riviera Maya, but we were determined to enjoy the first evening we got there. We watched the sun set on our balcony after we got to the resort (which also had an outdoor tub!) to unwind a bit before we went for dinner and drinks.
The next morning we got up somewhat early (emphasis on the *somewhat*), and enjoyed breakfast before hitting the spa for a massage and hydrotherapy. I also paid a visit to the salon for a mani and pedi. What’s amazing about this resort is that the spa and salon services are included, too, which surprised me. I even convinced Rich to get a pedicure, too. I reminded him how much he’d be wearing sandals for the next few days. LOL
After our spa day, we chilled by the beach and pools with drinks and empanadas before heading back to our room before another evening of dinner and dancing festivities. This pattern basically ensued for another two days. And we took quiet walks on the beach during sunset almost every day that we were there, too. I definitely could get used to that kind of life.
But alas, my wanderlust was getting the best of me after a few days, so we booked a day trip to go to Chichen Itza, where some of the oldest Mayan ruins in the world can be found. Before we got there, we stopped for some ice cold Cokes and snacks. The ruins were amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it! It was really hot, though, so on our way back we visited a cenote, which is basically a sink hole that exposes fresh groundwater underneath. It was over 100 ft deep, and the water was a crystal clear cool 70 degrees. I could’ve swam in it for daysss.
Check out some of my favorite photos and moments from our vacay below!
P.S. I’ve been learning and playing around with new photo editing. Let me know what you think!
{How beautiful is the decor in this place?}
{Sippin’ those pinas like it’s my job.}
{Rich enjoying the pool.}
{I only wish I could have brought this tub back with me. It easily fit both Rich and me!}
{Shoutout to Swimsuits For All, who sent me the white and brown swimsuits. I love that they make sexy swimsuits for women of all shapes and sizes. I got one of the Gabi Fresh line and the brown one is from the Ashley Graham line.}
{Caught the two pics above while walking on the beach during sunset. I loved how quiet it got during that time of day.}
{Definitely put Chichen Itza on your bucket list. It’s awe-inspiring!}
{How beautiful is this underground cave cenote? The water is so clear!}
