Sometimes it’s simplicity that draws you into a moment. A soft breeze brushing against your skin, a smile from a stranger, or a text from someone you haven’t heard from in awhile. None of it’s too complicated, but it just makes you feel great. Same goes for outfits. Bells and whistles aside, sometimes chic ensembles, like classic fall jeans outfits, capture the eye more than a loud print. A white tee and jeans has been an age-old standard.  Everyone from The Fonz to Kate Moss has rocked it, and it’s for a good reason. It’s effortlessly cool. That doesn’t mean you can’t put your own stamp on it though.

Admittedly, I own a few too many t-shirts, but my take on this classic look is to mix formal and casual by ditching the tee and injecting a hint of trend. First are the mom jeans, which update the look for 2017. They’re straight leg, slightly roomy and high in the waist. (Plus they make your butt look goooooooood!) And instead of the white tee, I’ve amped up the glam factor a little with this crossover blouse. It’s flowy, will take you through fall and, if you want to, you can show a peek of a pretty bra (or you can layer a tank underneath). It’s timeless, but it’s today.

This outfit would be perfect for a night out if you wore it with heels, but it’s cool-girl chic when you wear it with a comfy set of kicks. Trust me. It’ll end up being your Friday meetings and coffee date outfit all season. Also, I dare you to wear this outfit and tell me you don’t get noticed. It’s simple, it’s effortless and it’s flattering on every type of figure, from petite to curvy. You gonna get some compliments, girrrrrl!

What are some of your simple & classic go-to outfits?

Top – Rachel Roy // Seriously one of the best fitting blouses I’ve had in a while. And it’s timeless, so I know I’ll be wearing it for years. I’m wearing a size 8, and it fits in the shoulders perfectly.

Jeans – H&M // If you’ve been scared to dip your toes into the mom jean trend, these are less mom-ish and more classic with the straight cut leg. But seriously, though, my butt has never looked so good. I also really like the detail of the black and gold button.

Sneakers – Banana Republic (similar here) // I’ve had these sneakers for a year now, and I’ve worn them non-stop. They make casually taking my dog for walks look 10x cooler.

Bag – Vintage (similar here) // I found this vintage gem at a boutique in Brooklyn about five years ago. It’s been what I reach for when I’m going out somewhere nice or to a wedding, but I also like the contrast of it with casual outfits.
