If we’ve learned anything from fall 2017 trends, it’s that volume and oversize shapes are at the forefront. This is especially true when it comes to the denim jacket. It’s like boyfriend jeans migrated north this season. The slouchy fit is just as versatile as your old denim jacket and then some. It’s great with tees and tanks, but also roomy enough to fit over sweaters and chunky knits as the weather gets cold. Here are some of the ways I’m wearing the oversize denim jacket trend now and into the late fall.
If your denim jacket is long enough, you can wear it as a shirt dress. Right now you can pair it with platforms or sandals, and as we move into chillier temperatures, wear it with boots.
Bring the frill hem or flare pants you rocked all summer into fall by topping your outfit with the oversize denim jacket.
Play with proportions by going oversized in multiple pieces. Try a wide leg trouser, like these faux leather ones, with the denim jacket and a fitted sweater. And yes, this is something petites can wear, too (I’m 5’2″).
If your oversize denim jacket’s material is on the thinner side, wear it with a dress and tie it at the waist for a 90s vibe.
