I’ve been in Madonna mode lately with my clothing choices, especially my bralette outfit ideas. Something about the sexy and masculine vibe just really has me fixed. So when I was putting together a look for a night out, I channeled her ’90s vibe, opting for an inside out look of visible lingerie (sexxxxayyy) paired with slouchier pieces like a boyfriend blazer & jeans.

Funny enough, I actually had to write a thesis on Madonna when I was in school. I had this professor who was obsessed with her. He built the whole class, which was on music & philosophy, around the boundary pushing pop icon. After spending a semester watching every music video, listening to every album and picking apart more interviews than I can count for a labor-intensive 30 page paper on the big M, it seems only natural that she rubbed off on me a little bit.

What I love about Madonna is that she embraces her sexuality, but in a strong, powerful way that she’s in control of. And of course, because she never can resist a little kink, the bondage-esque lace up shoes (a huge trend this summer) are the perfect nod to her that also balances out the slouchiness of the rest of the outfit. You may say the look is a little daring (because hello, your lingerie is in plain sight), and you know what? It’s okay to let that side out sometimes. Just own it, and strike a pose.
