8 BEST AFFORDABLE NATURAL BEAUTY PRODUCTS

I’ve been dabbling in the world of natural skin and haircare. And by dabbling, I mean buying WAY too much of it to scope out the best natural beauty products on the market. I literally have a massive bag of it sitting in my bathroom right now simply because I can’t fit another piece in my medicine cabinet.

I’ve always been an avid skincare and beauty fanatic. At eighteen, I was working for Estee Lauder, discovering that the key to keeping your skin looking great is taking care of it. I also try to eat well by avoiding overly processed food with a lot of preservatives. But I never really considered that I should do the same for what I put on my face. That is until I had an epiphany (aka going down an internet rabbit hole reading about how the skin is the largest organ in the body and how much it can absorb). Cut to me scouring drug stores and Whole Foods for natural products that work just as well as my current faves, without having to shell out a ton of money for them. Here’s what’s been working for me, and what I’m currently obsessed with.

Weleda Skin Food, $19 for 2.5oz.

I discovered this product about a month ago, and it has been my go-to for soooo many things. It’s an intensely rich cream with essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and organic sunflower seed oil that helps with very dry skin and soothing irritation. A little goes a very long way. I’ve been using it on my hands, elbows, knees and lips to keep them soft & smooth. BUT my favorite use for it is as a natural highlighter. I dab it onto the tops of my cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of my nose for a non-shimmery, natural glow (pretty sure that’s what those models rocking the dewy look have been using all along).

Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo, $7.79

This shampoo is sulfate-free, something all of us with colored hair understand the need for. It lathers nicely, a feature of which a lot of sulfate-free shampoos lack, and it leaves my hair feeling super soft and clean. It’s got Balancing Seaweed Extract and natural cleansers that don’t strip the hair of too much moisture.

Evanhealy Wild Carrot Nourishing Eye Balm, $19.95

When it comes to fighting wrinkles around my eyes, I’m a retinol girl through and through. But the delicate skin around the eye can get irritated when retinol is exposed to sun. So for daytime, I’ve been loving this eye balm that you just swipe along your eye area (so weirdly fun to apply this way). I love how fat the tube is and that it moisturizes without feeling greasy or making my concealer fade. Plus, it doubles as a lip balm.

Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner, $37 for 3.4oz

This one is a little more pricey, but it’s worth it for the results I’ve seen. Unlike every other toner I’ve tried, it doesn’t dry my skin out. In fact, it’s specifically made for dry and sensitive skin, using witch hazel & anthyllis extracts as main ingredients. The biggest benefit I’ve seen with this product is a significant reduction in my pore size, something that has plagued me for years. I use it after cleansing morning and evening, or sometimes spray a little on for a quick refresh.

Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Mask, $6.29

This is the mother of all hair masks. Being someone with fine hair, I find that a lot of products tend to weigh it down. This makes my colored hair feel incredibly soft, but actually seems to add volume at the same time (is it magic?!). It leaves a lightly sweet scent in my hair that lasts for days, which means I can go without washing more often.

Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara, $16

I’m a full-lash lover and never leave the house without mascara. What I like about this formula (other than the fact that I’m not applying something loaded with chemicals near my eyes), is that it’s got a thick brush that glides the silky formula on in an even way, giving me a feathery lash look that’s great for those natural “no-makeup makeup” days.

Weleda Pomegranate Firming Night Cream, $37

Applying a night cream before bed every night is what I attribute to most of my skin’s health. If I get lazy for a few weeks, I really notice the difference in fine lines and overall moisture levels. This pillowy night cream with organic pomegranate seed oil is hydrating without being greasy (FYI, pomegranates are an excellent source of antioxidants, which help fight aging). I plan to use it during the late spring and summer months.

ACURE Organics Pore Clarifying Mask, $15

I usually apply an anti-aging mask twice a week, but since the weather has started getting warmer, I’ve been swapping one day with this pore clarifying mask. This one made with natural Moroccan red clay seems to help draw out impurities without stripping my skin. The red color is a little scary when you apply it (it looks like you’re a burn victim, tbh), but for smaller pores, I’ll risk scaring the hubby once a week.

If you want to try these products without making a major investment, you can find some smaller sizes in the Whole Foods Beauty Bag, which is just $18 for 12 beauty products.
