As much as holiday decorating like the McCallister or Griswold house (aka Christmas AF) is tempting, sometimes we don’t have time for all that. This year, I took a more minimalist direction in decorating my apartment for Christmas. Between holiday events, traveling to visit family and helping open a pop up shop for JUS by Julie, I just ain’t got time for that. I’m sure you’re in the same boat, with gifts to buy and holiday parties to get a little tipsy at, so the goal with these simple Christmas decorations is minimal effort with maximum results.
Nothing says holiday like shimmering, sparkly things. I work some well-placed metallic pieces into my home for the holidays, like candle holders, table decor & silver pillows.
I usually snag some greenery from a local tree vendor (this year I tore apart a wreath because I was strapped for time. LOL). Add it to the tops of shelves. The pine-y scent alone makes your space feel festive. If you don’t have fresh greenery nearby, there are some great and very real-looking faux garlands these days.
Whether you have a little 2 foot Christmas tree or a full size, keep things simple and chic by continuing the metallic motif. Use a quick combination of ribbon, affordable store bought ornaments, & DIY pieces for your tree. See my Guide To Creating A Simple & Stylish Christmas Tree for a step-by-step walk through.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought Christmas decorations, only to end up tossing them after December because of lack of space. Festive flower arrangements are the perfect solution for this! A few well chosen grocery store flowers will give maximum impact for about $20. Check out my Tips On Creating Pretty Holiday Flower Arrangements to see exactly how to recreate these looks.
